ok now im really depressed. i posted before about my gliders tail being damaged, and how i was going to the vet. the good news is the vet thinks he can save his tail.
the bad news is that its surgery. anethsicia. a 'wound' that will have to heal. now im worried, REALLY WORRIED, about self mutilation, much less. and worse, my vet really dissappointed me, he doesn't know much about gliders, just the basics. he has done some assorted glider surgury assistances and has done several neuterings himself. but he tried to sell me 'nutri-berries' or something like that for my glider, it was parrot food! that really depressed me. ive heard thats not good on alot of boards.
i gotta hunt down information on what exact elizabethan collar ill need in case my baby starts chewing on himself. my vet didn't know about it, and i know i need it before the surgury. im looking online for storys about it but if someone knows offhand please point me in the right direction.
should i really be doing this? this 'kink' is about 2 inches from the tip of his tail. the vet says it is dead tissue (scar tissue) that healed up and tightened as it healed, and is cutting off some circulation. it MAY fall off. it may remain as it is, i described it in a earlier post today called 'hurt tail'. he wants to snip it open and suture it shut. this 'kink' is about 6-8 weeks old, past the scabbing stage.
im really worried, i want to do the right thing. forget the cost of the surgury(considerable)and the e-coller. what if he chews on himself, then i open up this can of worms, self-mutilation and he will lose the tail anyways, they will amputate it. but he may lose the 2 inches anyways.

and why do i always feel like these vets are so eager to do these procedures? i always get this really uncomfortable feeling that they want to experiment with my glider cuz they are so exotic. i dont have anymore vets to go to, this is the most experienced glider doc i can get. it sucks and im really worried.
please please i hope people will give me advise, i have to make my descision by 3/11/00 5pm. ill be online alot, checking in alot here and my email.
