You said yourself that you had thought about the dangers. As we all know these little ones can get into trouble so fast, even with us keeping a close eye on them. I'm not saying to be a sheep and not use them just because all but one person says not to, just try to do what Sadie did... put yourself in your gliders place. And again... follow your heart! :)
