you are so sweet. actually i had thought about it all day, knowing that my glider really liked his ball. never had problems with it. but i also started torturing myself with the vision of his toe getting stuck, and the ball keeping rolling, and his little body twisting. that vision alone changed my mind, i decided there was other fun things for my glider to do.
but in the end after reading someone elses solution, i kept my hampster ball (actually i think its a ferret or gerbil ball) and had my boyfriend seal up most of the slits with a non-toxic filler. my glider hasn't used it again yet, but he will after its all dry.
but you know you came acrross so sweet and caring in your post? being nice yet focusing on the glider only. thank you
