Hello, board...
This is my first message board post, so please bear with me.
I'm currently searching for my first glider (a female, with
another as money allows). I'm hoping for some of that juicy
inside information from you on-line glider owners. I've
done months of research on gliders, have a fully-stocked
cage and am in touch with several potential breeders. My
problem is this: Every page I visit glorifies how cute they
are, how affectionate and sweet they can be, how loyal and
trusting the joeys are. Also included are the disclaimers
about their fragility, sensitivity to light, potential diet
problems resulting in hind leg paralysis (!), scent issues,
incontinence (sp?), legal issues of ownership/selling, vets
completely oblivious to the medical needs of gliders, etc.

I'm afraid I'm going to end up with a paraplegic glider,
dragging itself around on it's dangerous talon-clawed front
legs in a darkened closet filled with air-fresheners and
non-toxic tree branches, "crabbing" at me for not paying any
attention to it while I struggle with measuring cups and
calcium suppliments to feed it what I hope will be it's
"favorite food" for the next decade or so.

I really do think I'll be a good glider owner. I think I
know what not to do. I know the textbook definition of what
I should do. But that's about it.

Can anyone provide me with the good stuff? Suggestions I
won't find in a book, won't hear from a breeder? Diet
recommendations, fave foods? Time-tested methods of care?

Any reply would be appreciated! Thanks!
