much of this is not glider specific, so your vet surely will be able to help you out there.. While researching self mutialtion, there were a couple of female gliders that were affected, through, their vets they found that a fungus infection, or a yeast infection causes sever itching in the mucus . thus causeing them to clean constantly or incessantly. As far as the mastitus, that is when the teats sweel and stick outside of the pouch, caused by an over production of milk, or as in Baybe's case, it was caused from a scratch put on her teat from one of the nursing joeys. As far as general info that is it. I am a supporter of not self diagnosing, and really talking with the vets to find out specifics. For several reasons, 1. we don't want someone thinking there is a problem if there isn't. 2. we surely don't want someone treating one thing if it is another 3. It would be a great time to find out if your vet is glider knowledgable, you must develope a great working relationship with your vet where your glider is concerned. You definitly don't need a vet that isn't willing to address your concerns..
