Mary, please email me your number so i can tell you the results of the USDA visit to that pet store your new girl came from when the inspector calls...
LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT THIS PET STORE...they used to have a very caring manager who cared for their sugar gliders (and other animals). The manager they have now knows SQUAT! and won't listen..that's the kicker! She does not clean out the glider cages very often...AND their diet...Goldenfest (a dried fruit birdfood) and Iams cat food!!!!!!! OH MY!! They have one glider there that they placed in a cage with another male....and well they didn't moniter them at all..and well, one of the males lost an eye...so now he has a "gaping socket"...they never got him to the vet when he lost his eye :( To top it off, they are now selling off all their pairs of gliders (which i'm glad off)..they are selling them because they won't reproduce (well, with that diet and those conditions...go figure!)...Anyway, they are trying to sell the one eye glider (they call him Jack) and his mate. My husband and I went in to look at him, thinking that we could give him the good home he deserves..and he is missing patches of hair on neck and his rear end is totally bald...He is 8 years old..(7 of which was spent in the pet store...poor guy!) and has lost alot of weight. They REFUSE to take him to the vet...they say if he gets worse..they will put him down (in other words just kill him!!) :( I asked what they were doing to help him and they said they were putting glider booster on his cat food and giving him glideraid in his water bottle everyday..POOR GLIDER. They have been reported to the USDA AND they are overdue for inspection anyway, so the inspector said this week she will be there and check it out..I PRAY SHE JUST TAKES ALL THEIR ANIMALS!! AND THIS IS A LICENSED PET STORE!!! That's what kills me!!!!!!
Mary, can tell you about her girl from the same pet store...I HAD TO GET HER OUT OF THERE....I wish i could take all of them and get them good homes....but I can't....
