Thanks all for your comments! It's good to hear that other allergies are at least no indication of SG allergies. I guess I'll have to spend some time with one to find out for sure.

I am very impressed with how caring and protective Ellen and others in here are of these beautiful creatures. Kudos for cautioning people about making hasty decisions that may not have the best interests of the little ones at heart. Rest assured that I intend to get as fully informed as I can and live with the idea for awhile before I decide whether to include one of these animals in my life. I'm really glad I've found this forum because it seems like the best place I could possibly do my research.
