Thanks for your comments, Mary. Most everything you've said is what my heart has been telling me, but I didn't want to listen because I was hoping these would be the ones. I don't want to get them if there's a good chance I'll never be able to win them over, which I guess is the case here.

: Second its a better idea to get one glider at a time.

I guess there are differing opinions on this, aren't there? I've read some things that say bonding goes better with two because the gliders are happier and more comfortable (that's also this breeder's opinion), and others like you and Kim here who say that's hooey provided the owner spend enough time with them to keep them from getting lonely (which this breeder has not). If anyone else is reading, I'd be interested to hear these two sides debated further, since it's confusing to have such conflicting information.

: As far as breeding you deffinitly should have your gliders for a while before you even decide if breeding is for you.

The only reason I mentioned breeding them is that that way even if I don't bond with the parents too well at least I'll have a joey from Day 1 and would be able to do it right; but I guess that's a bad plan since breeding them takes so much extra care and experience, which I don't have yet.

: out. The briskts is meant to be as a complete diet..so she shouldnt be using a suplement with it every night..that makes the diet unbalanced. What kind of supplement is it.

It was a white powder that looked like it at least had calcium; when I asked her about it she said something about it being a milk substitute. (She said she had had a long discussion with someone at Brisky's and had gotten her info on the diet from them.)

: Where do you live?

I'm in east-central Wisconsin. I called the pet stores around here just looking for some books, and only one had ever even heard of sugar gliders. That one had an employee who had owned some, but it sounded like she didn't know how to deal with them and got rid of them, and they suggested that they were just bad pets. The breeder I went to today is a half-hour away; the next closest breeder I've been able to find online is nearly 2 hrs. away, and from his ad it sounds like he has quite a zoo so I'm a little leary about how much time he could have spent with his gliders. Someone in Madison (2 hrs. away) has offered me the joey in her glider's pouch, but it won't be weaned for another two or three months and I don't think I want to wait that long!

: Sometimes you just get that special feeling and it doesn't really matter what the situtaion is anymore.

Can't say I felt that today (unless that special feeling involves a bloody thumb), although the experience does confirm my desire to get SOME sugar glider, if it's one that has a reasonable chance of bonding well with me.

Thanks for your feedback! It's good for me to hear the voice of reason. Please do let me know if you have any thoughts on where I should look next.
