Thanks, though I wouldn't really call it research; I'm not really looking for stuff about the ears, I just happened across those two cases while doing general reading about gliders.

It would be great though if we could figure out what vets could look for to diagnose this before the serious irreversible symptoms show up. Meanwhile, at least we can try to raise the awareness of owners so they can tell their vets to keep their eyes open. By the way, it sounds like Brizzo had some other problems; not to jump to conclusions, but maybe these mites cause worse problems than lost ears.
