Well as you know Gliders are nocturnal, which means they will sleep during the day hours and up at nite.
Mine generally wake up about 8pm, but as late as 10pm.
I have now got them to where they will come out at 8pm as I am getting their food ready.
I have them in a dark room and keep the lights out until I get their food ready to be served.

Then they come out.

As for the cleaning and the licking of your hands, mine have started to do the same thing and I have often wondered if they are licking for the salt tatse.
They have been known to lick my arms, as well.
I am not sure if they at times can lack salt, maybe someone else can answer this one for us both.

But as for the licking they may taste the food or different smells on you and they may like it.
Try washing your hands just prior to holding them, see if this helps.
Good Luck,
And many many years of enjoyment
Jacque
