If you knew the first was pregnant then obviously you could see the bulges in the pouch, so you probably wouldn't have overlooked the following possibility (but know it's possible in the future:) Sometimes the dominant females steal joeys from another glider's pouch and put them in their own pouch to try and raise them. The problem is that the other glider isn't lactating, so the babies starve. The theory of natural selection comes into play here... have you been able to get a good grip on which of your girls is dominant? I hope you can remedy this problem in the future.
