We went to the pet store this afternoon and picked up 6 crickets. I put them in a mason jar (1 alone first) and put Buffy, the oldest sg in there. She hung on the side of the jar by her back legs and absolutely POUNCED on the bug! Ate his head and guts and turned around and got out. So we stuck 3 more bugs in there (by accident - trying for one, but since I prefer not to touch them....) Boomer went NUTS! Grabbed one in each hand and the third in her mouth! She's still in the jar finishing them off! Thanks for all your help! BTW - we are taking Buffy in on Monday and leaving her to spend a day or so in a cage next door to their male, then depending on how that goes, we will put them together and leave them for a week. Then it's Boomer's turn. We want them bred fairly close together in time so we don't have the disappearing baby syndrome... Actually, when we bought them, we brought them back to the store every 3 days to weigh them and check their progress as they were still quite young. After several weeks, the store owner approached us with the idea of breeding. He can't keep up with the demand himself and had been watching us and our abilities and felt confident we could handle the responsibility. He is quite picky with adoptive families - doesn't just sell them to anyone - has been breeding for several years, but his son was in a serious accident and is in a coma, so has pulled back in the glider end of his life. So... there's the reader's digest version of why we are doing what we are doing and why now... (actually we are a month behind, were supposed to start breeding in early August, but I just thought my babies were still too young - they are both nearly 1 year old, which is well past the age they CAN breed, but I still think of them as my babies...) Thanks for all your help and interest! Collette
