My vet uses super glue for these small animal wounds if they are not too ragged. Super glue is tricky because you sometimes can glue yourself to the animal, but it is very effective. Try putting some bitter apple or other foul tasting substance on the wound. It may deter the interest in the area. Also, this works to keep other gliders from licking the wound.
