They can start breeding as young as 7 months oop. However, they don't always breed that young. Also, if there is a problem with cage size, temperature, or diet, they won't breed (or the babies will be eaten).

You can earn their trust by being patient. Offer them treats from your hand, talk softly to them, spend time close to them. You can also wear a t-shirt with a pocket and put it in their cage to be their nest. That will help them get used to your scent.

There are lots of different diets out there. Here is mine:

Mazuri Ominivore Zoo Feed "A" - always available

Fresh fruit daily (whatever is in season) I usually give oranges once a week as I was told that too many cause loose stools

Frozen mixed vegetables (thawed but not cooked) at least once a week.

Low fat fruit flavored yogurt at least once a week

Meal worms and/or crickets once a week

Small mice (dead not live) every week or two depending on how they are breeding.

Canned mackeral or salmon (with bones left in) every 2 or 3 weeks

Eggs scrambled with shells or boiled and cut in half with shells left on every week or so depending on how chickens are laying.

1 Tablespoon of canned dog food about every 2 weeks

They also enjoy corn on the cob, cooked meat (no spices), sweet potatos (baked), canned yams, and various other fresh vegetables and fruits.
