: The people I bought him from said he was 63 days old. I have been very pleased with his disposition. I have several friends with female gliders and they seemed to take a while to bond and tend to be a bit on the grumpy side at times. Mine has been nothing but friendly and seems to just love being around me and I've only had him for four days now. The guy who sold him to me also felt that males tend to bond better and be a bit more calm and relaxed on a whole. Regarding the calcium supplement, the store I bought from here in Austin (Herpeton Exotic Pets) sells a supplement mix developed by a breeder and a vet specifically for gliders calle NutriGlider. Its mixed with gatorade and non-fat yogurt (yes, I know about the lactose intolerance claims). Several of the people that work there own gliders and they have a couple that are store pets that are fed this as a main part of their diets and none have had any problems with hind leg paralysis.

I got my male from Zookeeper Pets and the female from Outback Pets in Austin. The female is still more jumpy than he is, although she has calmed down a lot & she can still get rather grouchy, but she might be going through that adolescent stage (she wasn't like that when I got her, she was super-sweet & bonded quickly.) I don't know if its gender related or not. Although I use Nutriglider, it is meant to be a supplement given in addition to fruits & veggies, not as the main food. The people that make Nutriglider (Outback Pets) have decided to reformulate it because everyone got so upset about the yogurt. However, I thought it was a little too messy, so I mix Nutriglider into babyfood, fruit juice, baby cereal, yogurt & sometimes pedialyte together in a little dish. You will still need to provide a calcium supplement like Rep Cal (has only calcium & vitamin D3) once a week. You probably don't need to give other supplements if you are feeding him a varied diet. You might also want to try Brisky's Acu-feed. It is a complete diet and highly recommended. I believe the address is www.brisky.com.
Good luck with your little guy,
Clara
