I had a glider who's mate did mangle his tail and it had to be amputated. He now has a tail about 1 & 1/2 inches in length. I had another that had the tip of his tail gone one morning but assumed that she took it off because they often fought over the food dish. I put in a second food dish and there were no more problems. Now I have to wonder. If you get any information on this via private e-mail would you please share it with the rest of us.
