Our vet strongly recommended against sandpaper in the cage with our gliders. He said it's harmfull to the pads on their feet. We have several Polly Perches in the cage, and they seem to enjoy those. They don't keep us from having to trim their nails, but I think we do it less frequently now.

We used to have our vet do the clipping, but it was inconvenient and fairly expensive. My wife does it now during the day when they are mostly asleep. She can get a couple feet done before they wake up and start struggling.
