Subject: Shampooing

I checked the ISGA webpage and though they have a category on shampooing/bathing, it's not a link yet and there is no information. I wonder what kind of shampoo to use and if I'm going about the shampooing the right way.

I put Foster (he's 3 months old) on my hand and lower him into warm water. He sits in the palm of my hand and I hang onto his tail with my fingers because he tries to get away. He's not too upset by the process itself, he just doesn't like to sit still. So I put a drop of shampoo on my fingers and rub it into the fur on his back, and a little tiny bit on his belly. I get his head just a little, but it's hard to rinse so I don't do very much. Then I just gently douse his back with 7 or 8 cupfuls of the bath water to rinse him. Is that all I need to do? I know to wrap him up and towel dry him a little, then I breath warm air on him to get him dry (he loves that part.) He gets fruit and things matted into his fur and I only have to bath him once every 3 weeks or so, but does anyone have any suggestions or anything? Also, what kind of shampoo should I use? To be honest, last time I used a kids rainforest shampoo... scent and color free, and phosphate free, so it's biodegradable, but it made him itch. He was constantly scratching. I guess I may not have rinsed him well enough, though.... that might be why. Anyway, this time I used (believe it or not) Pantene. He hasn't itched (and he smells great!) Is this bad? Should I try some type of cat shampoo or something? Thanks in advance for any info... I'm really stumped.

Kim
