: At the moment, the breeders in my area don't have : any SGs available... : However, many of the local pet stores are now carrying : them. Today we went to Super Pet where they had a male : and female pair. I was able to feed the male by coaxing : him out with Blueberry baby food on a spoon. : Their housing was clean, and they both appeared to be : in good health. They arrived in the store in late : December but they couldn't specify their age. : Would it be a wise decision to purchase one of these : SGs? : Does his readiness to accept food from me indicate that : he will eventually be able to form a bond with me? : If they have had them for awhile they should not be eating baby food all the time. I would ask what else they re being fed. They should be given fresh fruits and veggies daily and a calcium supplement once a week. Also, if they are older they will be much harder to tame and it would be nice to know where the pet store got them. Is this pet store USDA licensed to sell exotics and how much were they told about them as far as care to pass onto a potential customer. Another thing, A glider from a pet shop will cost quite a bit more than from a breeder. Gliders are selling for around $150 now. Ask some hard questions. You are generally better off buying from a breeder in my opinion. There are a few pet shops that know and care about gliders but most just look at the bottom line and know little or nothing about gliders and can't help the customer with care etc. like a breeder can. Also, a breeder generally has some type of a guarantee for a few weeks where a pet store your stuck if it dies in a few days. :
