Yes unfortunately most young gliders do need to be socialized and many of them still need to be tamed. To do this you will go through many such periods of biting and crabbing and readjustments. Do not dispare however. You do not have to get your glider from a pet shop. If you can find a breeder that has spent quite a bit of time with their baby gliders you should be able to get one that won't even crab at you let alone try to bite you.
