For the past 3 years I had been under the impression that my boy Echo (who has faint rings on his tail, each lighter than the previous. He has shared a cage with 2 females, one much older and the other the same age. I didn't get him fixed for that reason and I thought *if* he were to get one pregnant I would fix him then and keep the baby. After a couple decades of having gliders I had never had one pregnant and I have the room. 3 years on, no babies, he is clearly sterile as the breeder I had gotten him from when he was a joey had thought. That is until ... surprise! Echo and Ace had a joey who is now about 7 weeks oop. He is adorable and has an interesting backstory too beyond this. His name is "PaleTail" - I think. He seems to respond to it anyway haha. I am confused though since: 1. 3 years and nothing? 2. Been on the The Pet Glider Exotic Diet the entire time - no changes beyond what is usual (veg, fruit, protein) to avoid food boredom. 3. I can think of no other changes. Anyone have any idea why it would have taken this long? or is it a fluke? virgin birth? |
