I finally picked up my 2 little girls Friday night. My husband wanted to name one of them Peanut and I couldn't decided what to name the other. Well, when I first saw her and looked at her pretty little face I decided to name her Almond. They crabbed the whole way home. From the first few minutes with them I realized Almond was going to be the feisty dominate one and Peanut is the calmer more trusting one. They explored the whole cage and stayed up for the rest of the day since we got home around 7:30. They liked the papaya and blueberries but only ate a little of the staple. They loved the wheel and figured out how to launch themselves off of it. We went to bed and around 1 am one of them stared barking. I went to check on them and I wasn't surprised to find out that it was Almond. I stood in front of the cage for 20 min giving them treats off my hand. Peanut loved the yogurt drops but Almond would only sniff at them and wouldn't take them from my hand. They didn't even crab at me. The next day I took them out for bonding time. I closed my living room door and cut a square piece of fleece just in case they escaped which of course they did. I spent the next 20 min chasing to very scared gliders. But I picked them up with the fleece and got them in the bonding bag. I later on the couch with them for over an hour. Peanut fell asleep pretty fast but even though Almonds eyes were heavy she couldn't let herself fall asleep. Any movement I made would make Almond crab but I was able to stroke them with my finger inside the bonding pouch. I was kinda worried the next day because they didn't eat any of the staple.
Sunday afternoon I got them out for bonding time again but this time they didn't escape (I'm getting better) I don't have a tent yet and my bathroom is too small for playtime so we did stairway time. I live in a basement so we went to the backdoor stairway area. We closed the doors and let the girls come out to jump on the stairs. They ended up hiding in the corner for a while but then ended up climbing out legs and gliding off our shoulder and head. They started to nip ant us too but making the "psssst" sound really helped. I was hilarious watching them glide off is and then run smack into the basement door. (I guess they thought they could climb the door) I also tried giving them mealies but I guess that they don't understand that mealies are food yet. Peanut would just swat at the mealies with her hand. I left a couple in their food bowl last night and I didn't see them this morning. They also ate all their food including the staple. I think things are going well. I plan on having more stairway time tonight. Also check out their pics and I have an Instagram page just for them follow peanut_and_almond
