I think all kept animals should require a permit and yearly in home inspection, including dogs and cats. I also think that most all exotic animals should allowed to be kept, legally, with permit and supervision and direction.
Perhaps private kept animals should be available for education demonstrations and for studding to keep the gene pool alive and well.
I hate snakes, but I believe that a person should be able to keep a 100ft Boa within a license, inspections and constraints.
Would be really neat too if private keepers could utilize inhouse zoo vets for surgeries and such in order to keep those folks on their toes who deal with those varied exotics day in and day out.
I think there is a better way and a common ground for all sides to the animal dilemma.
If a mill breeder has to register all joeys born, then they die, there will be a public record...
