Hahah yeah! I'm usually much ruder, but as it was not directed towards me i decided to be nice!
But just don't feel as if all the people on theis site are like that..Because most are not.
Some people get pissy and need to realize that not everyone is gonna listen to the EXACT advise they get.
When i ask for advise i get MULTIPY opinions and dont really feel the need to just settle for one answer.

Just don't let the rudeeeeee people get to you okay lol.
Cuz your doing very well as a sugar glider owner!

Is there anyway you can return the pellets you just spent so much money on. Sorry i don't know what the policy is since it is food, but maybe you could look into whether they will except returns or not. I know sometimes you lose your shipping and handling money, but if the pellets were that expensive it may be worth it.

Edited for typo.

Unfortunately, she very specifically asked for one answer...pellets or no pellets. People get pissy when factual advice is given and ignored. When people give their opinion and then ALSO provide fact to back it up, it's no longer an opinion.

our2girlz, that's an EXCELLENT idea. Better yet, refuse the shipment. They'll have to refund the money.

The thing is - there are people who have been here a long time and have devoted themselves to researching everything they can about gliders. Does that make us experts? No, it doesnt. But it does mean we know just a little bit more than someone who has had their glider for 2 weeks.

We do not have to be here. But we ARE here and the reason is to help the gliders of new owners have a better life. IF we have to seem rude to some owners to get that accomplished , then so be it. I would rather you hate me, call me rude, call me anything you want - but if I get the point across to just ONE new owner on how to better care for their gliders, then Ive done my job because that one glider will have a healthy, happy life.

If a new owner comes here and says they have had their gliders for 3 weeks and have fed them Sugar Smacks every night for dinner and their gliders are "just fine - they are playing and happy". We have to dispute that because another new glider owner will come along right behind them, read this and guess what happens??? They are feeding their gliders Sugar Smacks, too because someone said it was OK to do so.

A god Diet is THE most important thing you can do for your glider.

I was thinking that I worked for a company for a while that a lot of customers that did that only thing was though if it didn't make it back their card didn't get refunded. Maybe you could also call and cancel the order if it hasn't shipped out yet, but I am laying odds that it already has.

Thank you a poor diet will kill them and is the most important thing. And if I have to be pissy to get the point across, you better belive I will do it. I have the gliders interest at heart not the owner who refuses to take advice or argue about the advice given. It is so hard to read things that are on constant repeat and it piddles me off when people jump into owning one of these babies or any other animal. With out doing enough research. Before you get any animal you should know what is good and not good for them and how to properly care for them. If someone does their research properly and takes the time to listen to the right people and ask the right questions they should know bad info when they come across it. When they are able to do this then they should get what ever pet their heart desires and not a minute before.

If you are talking about the mixed berry and nut treat that I think you are get it the heck out of the cage it's bird stuff right? Where did you get your suggies from Roxy and stormmy's mamma? Was it traders village by any chance? That's what they say to feed gliders.

Simple answer. I use zookeepers. Yes, only for food during the day, if they decide they want to eat. NO, not for thier main food. I end up wasting more of it then they eat.

No, i'm not feeding myb glider's the mixed berry nuts.

I'm not to concerned about returning the pellet's, but I will try to. Overall it was the shipping that cost. The food was only $15.00, but the shipping was like $13.00! I just did yeardwork to earn the money, and I enjoy gardening and that.

Thanks for all the tips and Ideas that everyone gave :) they were all very much appreciated.

I am not understanding are yall actually talking about pellets or just dry food in general! Cuz ive never gave them pellets...ive gave them dry food that just has a mixture of everything...

What dry food do you have?

Its called...Mixed Berry & Nut Treat.
Its not based on a whole meal.
Its actually just little treats..you can probably find the ingredients on www.eightinonepet.com
And it doesnt say use as whole meal or anything.
All though once i fed my babies some Sugar glider food that i bought at a pet store and said to feed it to them wholy as the meal but i was like no and dont use them anymore!
So this berry mix stuff doesnt have pellets in it??

This is the post I was referring to the mixed berries and nuts! I wanted to know if it's the mixed berries and nuts for birds? And if you got your gliders from traders village because that is what they say to feed?

pellets? NO! its really not good for them, think of how they eat, they suck the juice out of things and for the most part spit out the pulp or whatever. pellet food sound dehydrating and may cause constipation. idk, i wouldn't and i heard meat isn't too good for them either, like it doesn't hurt or anythng, but the guy i got my gliders from said that when breeding, if he fed them meet they tended to eat their young, when he switched to tofu the problem stopped. just something to consider.

See this quote is the one i was saying dont pay no mind too...because i understand everyone else trying to get the point across with a tad bit of attitude but they didnt have to go THIS far...that was rude and i would have gone off...because some people do do research and if some people didnt find this website they would find others where as they say pellets are proper to feed them and stuff...so thank God for this website or i and a bunch of people would have never learned all this great info=))

Meat is great for them considering in the wild they eat birds and stuff.
Its how them get their protein that they SERIOUSLY need!

There's been a fable going around the internet that gliders who are fed pinky mice will eat their young. I guess it's morphing the way such fables often do.

I think the fact that the guy is feeding them tofu probably points to him being a vegetarian himself and not wanting to feed his gliders meat.

That could very well be...

They definitely need that protein, ESPECIALLY when pregnant/nursing. Tofu has its own issues altogether. Soy is one of those controversial items like grapes. People just have to do their research and make an educated choice on whether or not to feed it.

well i'm not a vegatarian, but thats what i heard, idk if its myth but they have been doing good so far. i also give them meal worms and such on top of it. what would be wrong with tofu tho?... i would try meat, but they just had babies and i dont want to risk it.

I feed my gliders a custom version of the HPW diet... and guess what...

I also keep a small bowl of Sugar glider dry food that was mentioned in the OP. I keep about a half inch of those and mix in a few yogurt drops so they can dig thru it. These gliders are perfectly healthy happy and bonding to me and all of my friends.

Too much of anything is bad for you or your animals. To instantly jump down down someone's throat and say pellets are bad or say that they have no business owning an animal is ludicrous.

Sugar gliders have only been raised in the US for a little over 20 years which really is only a few years past the life expectancy of a single glider. No one knows for sure if a specific brand of pellets (oatmeal based or meat based) is going to endanger a specific set of gliders... everyone says here that they are picky animals. For the most part, the data "gathered" in this forum is hearsay and personal experience.

until some actual scientific studies are done I dont think anyone should jump to conclusions, lets just be nice and try to hand out friendly advice. As for answering the same questions more than once twice or even 3 times in a day... if you care about gliders as much as you say you do when you jump on someone for not feeding them correctly... you wont mind repeating yourself since it could save a glider's life... if you do care that much to repeat yourself... dont. Let someone else speak up.

i have 2 gliders, they are girls and about 2 years old. They have shard eyes and sharp claws but are very loving and healthy... They actually felt a little heavy when I picked up their pouch yesterday. haha little fatties.

Click on that and type in between the Brackets. So it says [ quote ] blah blah blah [ /quote ], but without the spaces. =]

I don't know that anyone knows for sure.

To answer the tofu question:

This post is going in quite a few different directions. If anyone has a specific question not related to the pellets, it would be better to start your own thread. Your topic would be easier to find and you'll probably get a lot more responses.

I dont trust pellets of any kind for my glider however she also wakes up during the day to "snack". For her daytime snack i leave in a mix of dried fruits and vegetables, some people use cat food but i find most cat foods are also just as bad as pellets. Listen to the advice there is always conflicting posts i read 4 books before i got my glider and even those have conflicting so called "facts". You'll eventually learn whats best for your glider just keep asking questions.

There may be little scientific research and fact on pellets in the US, but we have several people in this forum that are from Australia. As you know they know much more about gliders there, and those individuals say NO to the pellets as well.

for anyone who is content on feeding gliders pellets, for whatever reason, I dont think its ness. to do. I have absolutly no scientific data to show that, lol, but alot of people on here say that itsd bad. I was very persistant on feeding my boys pellets during the day b/c i didnt want them to get hungry. My boys do get up in the middle of the day to snack on occasion. But i accidently dropped a cheerio in there pouch on nite....long story...involves a 4yr old throwing food, lol, and they went to eat it. I watched them eat it. I never before watched them eat pellets. It looked painful, and cheerios arent even that hard. They kept trying to suck sometype of juice out or moisture, but there wasnt any really. It was sad to watch, and even sader to think that some gliders dont get anything other than pellets. My one glider is even eating better at nite now that i've removed the pellets. I cant say that nutritionly its good or bad. I dont kno for sure. But all i kno i after seeing them attempt to eat the cheerio, I will never again give pellets. I too just recently bought new pellet formula. It sucks. WASTE OF MONEY. I dont have the money to waste either. BUt it would cost alot more to take them to vet cuz they are dehydred or have sores in their mouth from eating pellets. right? So please, trust a former pellet user, and STOP with the pellets. And I read something about bird food on here...bird food has seeds in it specially formulated for birds....dont use any bird food or treats....also...i read online about the meat thing...with the mothers eating their young bc they had to much protien...it was a scary article...true or not i dunno. i have two nuetured boys. I also read that meat makes them bite more, and more hostile. I can tell you first hand that part isnt true b/c my boys are as sweet and gentle as can be....hope that helps ya out...
