Anita, oddly enough, I've made the same exact statement on here. What I meant was I would never have helped support a mill breeder, I never would have purchased joeys too young to be removed from mom, I never would have bought them for my kids... Obviously, if the salesperson had been honest, they'd lose sales-including mine. At that moment in time, when my husband just HAD to go see one of "those things", we weren't at a home show looking for pets. We were in the chaotic process of building a house and a new pet (or two) was the last thing on my mind. I only purchased two because they convinced me I should have one for each child!!! That's the best mistake I ever made! Anyway, my kids could care less about them and I've also definitely stated before that you'd really have to hurt me to get them away from me now.

Yes, it IS heartbreaking. It's incredibly hard to love something so much and see others not value it in the same way. There are times when we can help and times we can't. We have to simply do the best we can each day. I want to say that you don't have to be the one to take gliders into your home in order to help. Speaking as a rescue home, there are so many ways that others help me that are greatly appreciated. Somen folks help by donating either money or items. Some help by working a railroad to get gliders where they need to be. Some can do fostering. There is one thing that every single person can do and that is to educate. We need to keep teaching others how to care for these precious little critters. By educating, we can prevent...hopefully. Last night...I wish didn't have to happen. I wish these gliders never had to endure a tough day or feeling as bad as they do right now. I hope that they will get better. I hope that this story has the happy ending. I think the best we can hope for is to have more happy endings than sad ones. Hopefully everyone who reads this story will realize that there are steps they need to take in order to be a great glider owner and there will be one less glider who ends up ill and in need of help.
