This is not my glider. She is my friends and I was told that because of the thick hair and long tufts by her ears seth is a lion head.

I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure that isn't a lion head. Aren't lion heads supposed to be more yellow/copper/cinnamon colored throughout? One thing though; she might not be a lion head but that is one cute little chunky monkey.

Honestly he looks like a standard grey, but maybe that is because he is so filled out.

Lions get their name for being close in color to normal lions but they also have a head that is more circular than a normal glider. Everything about the above glider looks very standard [excluding his weight]

Lions are only referred to as Lion and not Lion Head, their head shape is a very subtle change from the normal glider but it can be noted, what is really striking about them is their coloring which is slightly orange/yellow.

I have seen the picture of your glider and this glider but we really can not judge them without a standard grey next to them because, the photos are low in quality, and the lighting is low in both.

You would think it should be obvious whether or not he is one but I believe camera's and artificial lighting effects the outcome of the pictures and distorts their natural view.

There is no such thing as a lion head glider.

There are "lions" which is a coloring term.

Off topic but... are lions and cinnamons really "breeds" per se or is it just a result of diet/staining/natural color variation on a standard grey that causes them to be more brown?

I've wondered the same thing. I remember reading somewhere that cinnamon gliders, when turned onto a good diet, become grey before long. Not sure about lions.

Thanks for all the info! She is a standard grey in color. My friend had been told she was a lion head because she has big tufts of white fur both in front of and behind her ears that stick out and make her head look so much bigger. I don't know if there is a distinction for that but I know now that it isn't lion head.

www.thepetglider.com/index/sugar-glider-colors/sugar-glider-colors.html maybe you should message Priscilla Price and ask her since she breeds different colors of gliders including lions.
i think there is a difference between gliders who are just stained and those that are bred to be cinnamon colored. a lot of people say the glider is cinnamon just to cover up the fact that its fur is stained. the cinnamon gliders fur looks evenly colored and to light to ever have been gray before.

Shadow - yeah, I have heard both. I've heard some scam warnings on "cinnamons" that are really just greys on poor diets, but I've also seen some OOP joeys that folks posted on GC that look pretty lion/cinnamon to me. Seems like real cinnies have the brownish/copper color without the greasy look to the fur. I've also seen greys that are on good diets and are just naturally more cinnamon tinted so I'm not too sure. I've heard some people claim that cinnie/lion isn't an actual "breed" though. If anyone knows more info on them, I'd be interested in hearing it.

Hmm... she might just have a big head because she's a little on the fluffy side. She does have nice ear tufts though.

I'd imagine that would suck a bit to buy a "special color" glider and have it turn grey on you, especially if you paid a lot for it.

I have two cinnys on the same diet as everyone else(as in all the rest of our gliders.. and we have a mosaic and two leus and they're white as can be) and their coloring remains the same.

Here's one not so great photo but the only one I have this second.

Actually I found two!

You can really see the difference between her and her joey which is gray.
And the cinny boy has one of the biggest scent glands I've seen. x_x

But I've changed their diet in the past and they've never gone and changed colors on me.. xD

Cute gliders! I guess I should have been more clear - I know there are legit cinnamon gliders out there, but I've heard of people selling gliders who were simply on bad diets and upping the price by saying they were cinnamons. Once the glider was on a good diet they would suddenly become "standard" and they'd be out an extra $100-150!

I have as well. Someone in MI was selling something like 30 breeding pairs of cinnamons. (MOST breeders are lucky to have a pair or two, they're not THAT Common.. ) So I was like.. 30? Uhhuh, they're probably all stained from a bad diet/dirty cages. I've seen it a lot with rescues. They think they have a cinny after asking around and poof a few weeks of a good diet and it's a gray. Sad but true. =/ Sorry for the confusion! D: Thanks though! <3 x3

I love cinnamon colored gliders! They're so pretty. But really hard to find and easy to get scammed on. Yours are beautiful!

Edited to add: And back on topic: I think that the tufts are just an uncommon variation on a common gray.. I don't believe that it's a "new type" unless you breed them and the tufts are passed on to the babies.

Thanks both of you and sorry for the off topic. XD

Agreed.. I've some with slight color/fur variations, all usually the same standard gray. That glider in the top photo on the first page is kinda chubby too, could look different smaller. Never know. =/
