I have had my baby for twelve weeks and am picking up her sister in approximately 8 weeks but on Thursday I saw an ad on Kijiji for a sugar glider for sale marked urgent so I emailed. The owner moved and could/would not take her and left her at her Dad's who wants her gone now. She is nine months old and has been kept in a hand made wood and wire cage and is being fed veggies, fruit and ham. I saw pics and she looks miserable the owner wanted 300 for her and the cage. I felt so sorry for her that I started emailing and explaining what kind of home I could provide...friends care good diet toys affection tent time every night etc. and after a lot of pushing I talked her down in price scrapped my money together and am picking her up tomorrow. I have a borrowed cage that will work until I can get another and have a vets appointment for Monday. Now I have to scramble and see what I have left to get a wheel and pouches etc. can not get these where I live so have to have things shipped to Canada. I have a little fleece but don't sew so will try a few no-sew and take a few of my glider's toys and wash them and put them in her cage until I can make sure she is healthy and get the two bonded and then wait for my planned little one. My current glider is Kalka, her little sister will be Kinta and this one is named Lilly but since she will be starting a new life I am giving her a new name, Kiah which means a beautiful place which I hope she thinks this is once she settles in. I had no plans for another glider this weekend but I can not leave her in the situation she is in...maybe it is fate. Here is pics that were sent to me.

Those pictures just break my heart. That's why I rescue but I have no patience and people around here refuse to let me talk their price down so I just pay an arm and a leg when I can and rescue to provide them a better home. It's just amazing what people do. Hate hate hate these people that don't know what they're getting themselves into and treat them as such. Poor poor little girl!! You'd be amazed at what kinda housing people around here provide. I saw one person put their glider in one of those critter trails for hamsters. I freaked out so badly.

I'm happy you're taking her in! I hope everything goes over well with the vet and I'm sure she'll have a wonderful life with you. She's so lucky to have found you. =)

Today is my birthday and rescuing her is what I chose to do for my birthday. My boyfriend said I could have or do whatever I wanted today....I just don't think he had any idea that this would be what I chose...lol

She is here! My truck broke down on the way but I am handy with tools so stopped at a parts place and with 80 less in my pocket and some grease on my hands I was on my way again. I have not seen her as they handed me a pouch, said veggies, fruit and ham and handed me pellets which they said they only fed once in awhile. Oh and they said she crabs alot and barks alot. I put her under my shirt and she has not made a peep but has shivered a bit but is not shivering now. I was also told I am her third owner. I threw the pellets out hung her pouch filled her water bottle and food dishes in and have left her alone to come out when she is ready. Poor little thing. Vets in the morning. Welcome to your forever home Kiah!

Happy Birthday. I am so happy you rescued her from her owner, she looks very sad, and i am sure when she gets bonded to you she will be fin. we rescued a little girl in Sept. from someone in N.C. she rescued her frome someone else, and said she couldn't keep her, so we have had Piper Laurie since Sept 27. She bonded with my other two girls when we finaaly put them together, now they hang out in their pouch all the time.Good luck. You can't help but love them all.
