Do y'all have any advice on cutting the holes? Keeping the edges smooth?

Also, how do you put holes in plastic to be able to hang them? I have some things here I want to put together into a toy, but not sure how to do the holes.

Thanks for any and all advice!

Some people use a drill with a hole bit then sandpaper. I used kitchen sissors and just cut a crude opening, (nothing pretty) then I lit a match and just ran the flame around the opening, (keeping the match moving & not sitting in one spot too long) and it melted it to a nice smooth edge. I don't hang mine so not sure I can be of any help with that, but maybe poking holes with an ice pick??? Not sure what kind of hanging device ur planning on using. (???)

Like the flame idea Jazz - I totally ruined all my nail files. lol
What about warming the area and punching it with a hole punch? Or burn it through with a lit cig?

I used a small swiss army knife. The thiner the blade the more maneuverable. I used a butane lighter on the edges and that made it smooth.

I made a cute little suggie kitchen and found my babies didn't like it one bit.. they'd reach in and stretch to get things and then sit outside it to eat.. they'd tip over their hpw complete and try to lap it from the doorway but they wouldn't go inside..

I took the top container part off and just left the container lid as a tray of sorts.. they'll sit on their tray and eat or on the pieces of fleece I have on the cage floor around the edges and eat over the tray.. surprisingly, they're not too messy eating so far and the lip of the lid seems to catch any spillage..

I have had every type of glider kitchen imaginable, long and sqaure, round and tall, even a shoe box with the ends cut off. They won't go in it, not sure if they had some bad experiance in their last home or what but I can't use a kitchen, I just have to clean up after them.

Like The Hyland said, hole saw (like you would use to put a hole in a door for a doorknob or deadbolt) then sandpaper or carefully flamesmooth the edges. A knife or box cutter can be used but will be very dangerous and can lead to messed up cuts in the plastic or cut fingers/hands and ER trips! I have one of the handing kitchens that wadelynaaron pictured and it came from Sarah's Suggie Shop. I had seen one someone had both on another thread and got it. A whole lot easier than making it myself. If you sand the hole, use around 320 to 400 grit sandpaper for a fairly smooth surface. You can use finer sandpaper but it may take longer. Be sure to make the holes big enough to let the fluffier of your group in and out. Let us know how it goes.

I have read that a lot of people use soldering iron's too. http://www.amazon.com/Sinometer-Watts-Soldering-Iron-listed/dp/B0006NGZK0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1315250972&sr=8-1

I bought mine, but its pretty flimsy. One of the days one of my kids will break it and I will probably just make my own.

I used a Dollar Store round cake carrier..That one my Son used the hole saw * I barely had to sand it..My one before, I burnt the edges w/ a lighter, after cutting it w/ a box cutter.
I just keep the first one, in case I need a back-up.
I also have a smaller, "one glider only" rectangle, and put it 2 floors below, that I used when Willow was being a witch about the big kitchen..Widget didn't actually eat from it alot..but I felt better knowing he had an option..They have since resolved the spatting (can't say he ever fought back).
I don't know how peeps keep up w/ the mess, without a kitchen..I would have to say, my 3 top glider necessities (aside from the obvious cage) would be: Pouch, Wheel, Kitchen.

The only person that really sells them is sarah Suggie and they are so reasonable. I can't express that enough. You don't want anything to fancy because you'll need to clean it constantly.

I heated up a hole saw on our gas stove and melted holes. It smells and there is a good chance you get burned by melted plactic, but no sharp edges. A gas grill would work too.

Does anyone know where you can get those bowls? I've been looking for new feednig bowls that are larger and secure better to the cage(or glider kitchen as I might use in the future) and those look awesome!
