as long as there is someone who can feed them and check up on them(even better if they like the gliders and dont mind taking them out to play) you should be fine going on vacations and stuff.

I have left mine for 2 days before when I didn't have an option. Make sure to leave multiple water bottles, in case one malfunctions. I also left a dry mix of food (I used the Suncoast dry food and keep that on hand for exactly things like that). If you go to a natural food store, you can also find dehydrated fruits and veggies. (which I also left) I hated doing it, but it was the only alternative I had at the time and that's the only time it's happened. It made me feel horrible even though I'm sure they were, or at least appeared, perfectly fine. I didn't want fresh food going bad or spoiling.

Petsmart sells dehydrated chicken (100% natural no added ingredients). That could be another option for dehydrated foods.

I am going to have to keep this in mind also. My husband and I took a "day trip" last summer and we ended up staying over night!

Thankfully, I had the foresight to leave a key at my mom's for my daughter to use to come feed them "just in case".

The previous summer, an overnight trip turned into a four day excursion! Luckily, the girls stilled lived at home then so they were covered. I just had to email them specific instructions on what/how/when to feed them.

Since this seems to be a patter for us, maybe next time I can just leave some dehydrated foods instead!

Thanks for asking your question, scoutandmiko!

I had to leave my gliders for 2 nights last year because my sons and I were ALL attending their older brother's wedding in Boston.

I purchased very fresh fruit & vegetables - ones that would not spoil quickly if stored at room temperature. Green beans, baby carrots, dried figs, grapes, fresh blueberries and cherry tomatoes. I left a bowl with the SunCoast Chicken & Brown Rice dry food and I also left the dehydrated chicken (sold in the dog department - freeze dried with no preservatives) They had way more than they could eat in 2 days and 3 water bottles on each cage.

I usually have my sons home when I travel and they feed the gliders but since we were all going, the dogs went to the kennel, the cats got lots of food and water and a clean litter box in their bathroom (their usual bedtime space) and the gliders got a smorgasbord of fresh fruits and vegetables that would not spoil at room temperature and everyone did just fine.

Not the best for the gliders, but when circumstances make it impossible to be there it was fine. Probably would not be good for more than the 2 nights we were gone though.

Truthfully, I was more worried about my spoiled 6 lb mutts at the kennel than I was the gliders. They are used to sleeping on a bed, as close to a human as they can get. They did fine too.
