This is apparently brand new this week to the market. Has anyone seen it? I am uncertain how big it is. It says it is 24 x24 x48 (high), but I was comparing that to my current cage and it just doesnt seem that big to me. They claim 6 gliders can live in there, but I just dont see it. Am I wrong?

Oh! They're full of crap! The specs may be a bit different but it's essentially the same cage many of us have....they think they can throw in some wood purches and use the name "MADAGASCAR" and we'll all think it's some new exotic thing for our babies! Don't buy into it! I paid $217 for my new cage,...not gonna pay extra for a name and some branches!

Is the empty one in your pics the XL excel (30 x30)? And the full one the regular?

Its actually deeper but slightly narrower than that cage(its 24 x24 instead of 18x30). I guess its an in between to the old exel which was 30x30 but hard to fit through many doorways.

Bigger doors too and a great price for the size! I'm liking them!

No, mine are actually the same.(large) I didn't get the 30 cuz it's too tight a fit thru a doorway. They are actually the same size but the stand on my new (empty) cage is about an inch taller which makes the cage appear bigger.

This is the one I bought,...as you can see from the pic it is EXACTLY like my 1st cage, but apparently EXEL isn't making this cage anymore so what was sent to me was slightly different. (which you can see in the side x side pic.) The doors are slightly smaller, the stand is slightly taller, but the entire thing is built so much better. I have pics in my album (cage sets) showing the comparison of the heavier duty door locks and the sturdier cart.

How big are the new doors? I have this tree perch thing that my boys love. I bought it at a glider meet a few years ago. It is huge! So it needs to be able to fit through the doors.

11in. wide X 16.5 high.

The bottom tray and grate come out so you could always feed it through the bottom if need be.

how many gliders does this cage fit comfortably? I'm looking into a bigger cage since my colony has grown.

IMO that's a personal choice. You know all the different cages out there and I'm sure there are different numbers of gliders depending on the owner.

In my current cage I have 4. I personally wouldn't go over 4 because I feel they would begin to get crowded...someone else may feel differently.

Ariana is in the new cage by herself until I can do intros. If that goes well and everyone gets along, I plan on using landware mesh and connecting the two cages at the side doors to make "MEGA CAGE!"

So at that point I will have 5 babies in the two combined cages.

The "Exel" 30x30 is a rather large footprint to manage. I suggest you consider that it may not fit through most doorways and hallways. I have learned to prefer a rectangular cage, so drop the width and lift the length so that it is manageable by a person. 24x24 is a good size but I wish they had made it a bit taller to make up some cubic space inside. 24x36 is better.

A&E made one which was 30 x 40 which Id prefer over the Exel 30x30.

All in all it comes down to something YOU like and you can calculate internal cubic space to compare for the critters sake.

Madagascar : 24x24x48 = 27,648 cuin
Exel Tower: 18x30x56 = 30,240 cuin
Exel Tower: 30x30x56 = 50,400 cuin
A&E Flight Cage : 40x30x62 = 74,400 cuin

Nothing beats this cage at 30x60x78 = 140,400 cuin

I had one of these awhile back. My intent was to use it with my little opossums but I never did. The heavy iron macaw cage did the job. I looked into modifying it for sugar gliders but just never did and I finally sold it to a bird lady.

So no, I dont have one. All I have is three Exel cages.

The A&E Corner Flight cage is 161,616 cubic inches.

BUT - it doesn't fit through a doorway. I am able to steam clean it with little problems.

I've had a colony of 6 in it. If they wanted, they wouldn't even have to see one another! It is plenty big.

Blythe891 has one also.

I have heard a lot of negatives about A and E cages Alden. Have you had any problems with your corner cage? I am seriously thinking of getting a new cage. I really don't like my critter nation. I just got it in Nov so if I do get another new cage, I hope I can sell it. But, I want to make a better decision this time.

Cleaning it can be a pain - and the doors really are too small. I mean - they are big enough to get even a Custom Cruiser wheel in - but I'd like them to be bigger.

And, I didn't put the solid top on. I actually used the bottom grate and then zip tied it to the top. Then I got another grate (thanks to Blythe having an extra one!) for the bottom. It works just great! (or grate?!)
