I don't know what to do. He has been barking for the last half hour and won't stop. I have a lamp on and I've tried talking to him and making noises but nothing is working. Please help!!!!

The only thing that works for us is petting him. That will usually quite him down, but ours don't do it that often. How big is your cage? Do you have lots of toys and a wheel to keep him occupied?

Some gliders just like to hear themselves bark! My Corky has to tell all the other gliders a story every evening about 10:30 - he barks for 20 to 30 minutes and all the other gliders freeze until he finishes then they go about their usual play activities.

They may bark because they see, smell or hear something they feel the colony needs to be alerted about. Mine bark when the sprinklers come on outside their room at night and when my son's alarm clock on the other side of the house goes off between 3 and 4 am too.

And mine rarely react to petting...I just let them have their say unless something is very unusual. Part of being a glider parent!

Are you just worried that he is barking so much, or because it is keeping you awake? If the latter, you will just need to move the cage to somewhere the barking is muffled from where you sleep, or get used to it. Gliders love to bark. My girls bark when I go to bed, because they like having me in the room to watch them LOL. Lucky for me I can sleep through anything.

I got to sit in on a storytime for the first time a couple nights ago! Charlotte was just steady barking for like 5 minutes, so I slipped over to see what was going on. Sabrina was just sitting in one spot listening, and I realized what was going on. Charlotte continued for like another 10 minutes, and then they both headed for the wheel. It's REALLY cute!

I was concerned for both dalton. But I think I've figured it out! The cage cover was in the wash and Mickey likes to watch me sleep so I think he was telling Minnie about it. I've never experienced that before so it's good to know that it is just story telling. Lol. I put a different blanket on the cage and he stopped. Thanks guys.

Same here, although I haven't attempted petting so much. I used to check on them with a flash light and try to quiet them down when I was married, but now, I just let them "talk" unless I feel something is unusual also. Like last night it was quite consistent, I did finally check and all were in the pouch, so who knows who was story telling. I have seen them when one will bark and the others are frozen in place until the story is over, lol. It also doesn't usually disrupt my sleep or bother me.
