My son was going by the pet store so I asked him to get me some meal worms. He called me and said these worms seem bigger then the ones I already have. I asked him what does the top say. "Large meal worms."
When he got home I looked at them. These things are huge. One is a meal all by itself.

So my question how many people have given their suggies giant worms?

I give mine superworms, they're about an inch and a half to two inches long and really plump. They each get one at that size, plus two or three crickets.

I've given mine the superworms. I think they really enjoyed all the squirming around that those bad boys do, but I just cannot stomach touching one again...not even with the tweezers!

The bunch of them that I bought said to keep them unrefrigerated. One night, my naughty, curious cats knocked them off of the top of the microwave oven, causing the container to open up all over the floor. Yuck! I cleaned up all that I saw right away. However, some of them had crawled under the frig. They crawled out for a couple of days before I finally got them all.

I always get the superworms at petsmart and petco...I guess I'm used to them. One day I had to buy the small ones because they were out of the superworms....My babies felt cheated!!!

Lol. They're a different species, which is why they're so much bigger. ;)

Most gliders actually don't like superworms. Also, the superworms can bite and hurt a glider so if you have a glider that likes to take their time eating mealies then you'd have to either stun a superworm in cold water(or chop off the head) or only feed the white, newly shed ones. Most of my gliders take one bite and then toss the supers, lol. I've got a couple that attack them though. ;)

My guys will fight over the superworms! I have to get three in a dish and ready so I can hand them out one-two-three.

My gliders like both superworms and mealworms. I prefer to buy the mealworm, just cause you can store it in the fridge and with the superworm you can't. It will kill them.

I have used, giant/super worms for my guys last year during the huge mealie shortage.
They are fine to feed but a couple of my guys just did not care for them.
I did not care for them being stinky. They are the reason I started a worm farm. LOL

Theres a difference in giant mealworms and superworms/kingworms. Superworms/Kingworms are a completely different worm than a mealworm. They come from a different beetle and the larvae has a hard outer shell. They are safe for consumption if the animal eating it can digest that hard outer shell. They can't go into the fridge to go dormant. They can't handle cold, they will die.
Giant mealworms-DON'T FEED THEM TO YOUR SUGAR GLIDER!!!! Or any animal you care about. Giant mealworms should only be used for Fish bait. They are regular mealworms (from the regular darkling beetle) that have been given a GROWTH HORMONE STIMULANT to keep them from morphing into their next stage of life-which is pupae. It keeps them growing past the 1" stage which is when the larvae usually change into pupae. They just keep growing until they eventually die. Therefore, they are sterile and never grow to the pupae stage or the beetle stage- and the GROWTH HORMONRE STIMULANT that they have been given has got to be bad for anything that consumes them too!!!! ANYTIME YOU SEE GIANT MEALWORMS---DON'T BUY THEM (unless you want to go fishing)!!! They have been given this stimulant. Superworms-are okay. Giants-NOT OKAY!!

All the sites will say they are safe. They also say that it is safe to eat chicken that has been fed growth hormones, but I don't buy that for my family either.
