Posted by: Jolly2104I just adopt a new male sugar glider. Hes a joey. 1,5 month old. So so young and small. Hes been acting strange. I put him in his pouch and cage alone because my female sg jolly bite him once. He thought that jolly is his mother and try to climb on her and she doesn’t like it. Jolly”s usually very kind but she really hates it when he does that. I dont want to take any risk so i never put them together if im not around. So the problem is my joey sugar glider eats alot that it looks like its not normal. He chew it like crazy. Fast. And he just wont stop. He have a small boddy but hea tummy kind of big. When i put him on the cage he search for food. He even bites the tissue that i put in the cage. He eats sg baby food and tomatos and melon yet he act like i never give him food... i even fet him 3 times a day. And weirdly sometimes hes poop are watery and sometimes normal..... is he stressed ? It havent been 1 week since i adopt him. Is he still adapting or something? And btw hes poop and pee smells bad. But people tells me that male sg does have smelly poop and pee. Your opinion will be so much appreciated. Thank you

The condition of the suggie is not that good either. His fur was kind of dirty and stiky and there was like some loose fur. But hes food appetite are high and he can drink on his own so in not so concern.

So i have an older sugar glider. Jolly around 7 month old. Shes usually a very kind suggie and like her name shes always so happy and excited. But sometimes shes to exited that its scares me to combine jolly and the new joey. Cause their size differences are quite a lot.

At first night I didn’t combine them. But at the second night jolly was so insisting to go to my joey cage and to his pouch. So i let her in and she snuggle with him. Sometimes i hear hissing sound. And when I checked it was jolly being annoyed by the new suggie because it was always licking jolly face. And when their both awake i cant let them be together because the joey alyways want to climb jollys back and jolly always hiss and sometime like playfully attack him.

My concern this mornig was the new suggie have like a dry scar near his nose. Not a big one its small but still a scar. But last night they sleep just fine ? Is it by accident? Because i never cut jollys nails. Is he going to be okay ? And about the fur. Some of his fur are sticking out . Thats okay right ? And hes genital seems to be out most of the time. Thats common for male suggies right ? And do you think I should still combine them when their in the pouch ? Thank youu

Posted by: Suggie_bearsHello! Recently my family has been thinking of adopting a pair of sugar gliders, I have been the main researcher, and I’d just like to ask a few questions I’ve never been able to find.

First off: is I’ve seen lots of “bonding tents” and I know that’s an important thing for bonding with a sugar glider, my question is are you supposed to get a special tent, or can you just use a regular camping tent?

Secondly I was wondering if there is a particular difference between different breeds of sugar gliders, personality wise. I know all gliders have a unique personalities but for example are leutistics usually more mellow than black beauties? Are classics easier to bond with than caramels? Things like that.

Last of all if there are any tips when looking for a glider, (and we are planning only to rescue or help regime gliders, no breeders)
For example any good rescues that can ship? Or Are in Oregon? We are probably going to be unable to travel very far, and so far we don’t know that there are rescues in our location.

Posted by: foxygamer233I'm not sure if i can feed them mature dubia roaches or if i should cut the legs off or something. I'm afraid that my dubia roach colony will expand to the point where i have too many dubia roaches so that is why i want to know if i can feed my gliders the adult roaches

Posted by: Allyc1239Okay so here’s my issue, this may be a little lengthy. About two years ago I got a pair of female gliders (sisters) these two girls were my best friends, we had someone watch them about a year ago while we were on vacation, and unfortunately they did not listen to us and gave my girls tap water. This resulted in them getting toxicity and they ended up passing away. So me and my parents were looking around at sugar gliders for sale just a few days later, just looking. Just. Looking. However we found what we were told was a “breeding pair” of sugar gliders for sale and they were exotics, one of them a mosaic and the other a platinum blonde. They were a very good deal and so we went to go look at them. These two were being kept in a tiny tiny bird cage, just running around and doing circles. The lady had something like twenty pairs, some were threes, and something around fifty sugar gliders. My mom bought the gliders from her to get them out of this situation and they were taken immediately to the vet. We took them there to get them checked out and make sure they were okay. They both had infections on their tales and so they were put on a round of antibiotics and pain killers to make sure their tales healed properly and were, obviously, given a steady diet and big cage. The female ended up getting her tail amputated because the infection was too deep in the bone. She was given her medicine everyday and she has healed totally as well as the male. These gliders were fine together up until a few months ago they started crabbing at each other and fighting. We fed them separately and gave them multiple sleep options but ultimately it didn’t stop. The female was being kept away from water and food and was in bad shape so we separated them. We have another male glider by himself that we keep by himself in the same room, so after we got the female healthy we tried introducing the female with our other male glider. This male glider is younger than this female but I read that’s usually good. So we have these two in together and they did fine at first, sleeping apart but eating together and then they began to sleep together and everything seemed fine. Keep in mind neither of these gliders are fixed. So these last few weeks they have been crabbing something awful, they don’t latch onto each other and fight but they crab a LOT. Every time I walk into the room they stop immediately and stare at me, sometimes they’re together other times apart. There’s not any marks on them, but we have only one small cage to separate them and that’s no long term solution. I’m just very worried about them and I really want them to work out, I just want my gliders to be healthy. If you can please offer any advice on what’s happening or how to fix it please do, we’re all anxious to have this problem fixed.

So Axl was with other gliders before I got him and when he came to me he was on his own but it wasn't a problem as he comes everywhere with me such as varsity and even to the movies. So now I adopted another glider who is a young joey called Hutch and have had him for about 3 weeks and hes starting to get used to me (still crabs a bit) and I have been swapping fleece and things to get them used to each others smell and decided to try introduce them today. Well Hutch started crabbing when I took him out his cage and Axl who was on the bed near by ran over aggressively toward Hutch and I was too worried to let them meet! Please help any advice would be great :) do you guys think that there's still a chance for it all to work out? Or maybe Axl is jealous

Posted by: RaeeeeAnnaaaaI've had my baby since about December 20th of 2017 . Recently he has been very distant. He sleeps more than usual, barks and gets spooked a lot more && all around just doesn't seem like himself . He doesn't seem bonded with me like he used to be and I'm really worried about him, I just don't have the extra money to go to the vet (considering there in not one close by me able to see him) if there is nothing wrong with him ??

Posted by: volleyballgalMy gliders keep fighting I got a Joey a month ago and they are almost perfect they sleep in the same pouch together eat together all with out fighting but night they trade off but one will hisses and the other will attack each other they don't hurt each other like biting and leaving a mark but Chase and crab at each other they only don't at night too are they play fighting or just don't get along how don't change it

Posted by: powelltowelI walked in this morning to check on my Sugar babies, Sakura was in the cage and she wasnt moving I go and picked he up and she was missing her eye! Blood all over her dont know what happened, didnt hear any fighting from the group. I dont know what happened. I am very depressed.

So I recently adopted a joey as I felt the need to get Axl a friend as hes an only child and although he goes everywhere with me I feel like having a friend to be with would be nice! So Axl is 2 years old and is quite chubby while Hutch (the joey) is only about three months old and quite a bit smaller. Does anyone have any advice on how to go about introducing them as I have put the cages next to each other and am swapping their fleece so any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Also am I right in saying that I can only let the "meet" when the joey is older and a bit bigger so he can look after himself?
