Dec 12, 2017 First Entry Posted by: ThesugarbeatlesMy name is Amberly and I'm a freshman in college in South Dakota. I've decided I need to start a log for my babes. I'm raising my little family with my boyfriend Connor, who got our first glider, Sgt. Pepper, on August 13th of this year. At first, I was really jealous of Pepper, because I had just taken my pet lizard in to the vet and it wasn't looking too well for him. I was sad and distressed, and the one person I needed support from was giving his attention to the new creature in the house. It took me probably three or four days to get over my absurd jealousy, when I finally began to fall in love with Pepper. He bonded to us quickly, only crabbing at me once when I disturbed him during his sleep. He was a dream. I came to the realization that I really wanted a pet of my own as well, and got looking online for pet stores with gliders nearby. I didn't find any close to home, but a store in Texas ships them out, and that's where I got Eleanor Rigby on August 24th! It took me so much longer to bond with her. I want to say it took a good month to gain her trust, which felt like eternity to me. Her personality is so different from Peppers, but once they met and became friends, they were inseparable. We we're excited because we finally had two gliders, a boy and a girl, ready to grow up together and be best friends, until we went to the vet. Pepper had been missing a lot every time she peed, and from me using this site and others for research, I found out it's most likely a UTI, which it was. But that vet visit wasn't only about that... The technician brought back a drugged up sleepy little Pepper and asked us, "you know she's a girl, right?" We were both distraught, knowing Pepper to be our little boy. It's been at least a month or two now, and I'm completely used to it. I love her as a girl. Connor still gets confused. His mom won't even call her a her. This enabled us to consider getting a third glider. We do want to breed in the future, just to keep our little colony going, with immense research and knowledge ready, of course. I hopped back online to the same site I got Ellie from, gliderpets.com, and found myself a very small, standard gray boy. I fell in love with his picture and placed my order immediately. When he arrived, he was bouncing around the shipping carrier, letting out a loud, really high-pitched crab. He's about a month younger than my girls, and it's crazy how much they seem to grow in that short amount of time. I think he's just a little munchkin, but he's getting bigger already. I got him on October 18th. I'm having issues bonding with him. He loves the girls and playing and cuddling them, he loves treats and tiny stuffed elephant toy, but he will not give us a chance. He seems more cowardly than he does curious - he's only taken food from me a handful of times, and any sudden movements freaks him out. If I carry him with me in the bonding pouch, he will not relax and go back to sleep, he stays awake and alert and crabs whenever something scares him. It's been almost two months, and we haven't made anymore progress. But this Thursday marks the last day of classes until January, and we moved his cage next to the girls cage at Connor's parent's house (he was at my house, and the girls were in Connors dorm). I have a lot of free time on my hands, and I'm gonna get this little fella to love me as much as my girls do. We're working on getting atticworx wheels because the ones we have now are you, wobbly, and have the bar through the middle. We ordered them new food and treats from exotic nutrition, and they absolutely love it. Desmond seems to be a picky eater, so we really have to make sure he's getting his protein in other ways since he'll barely eat egg and he doesn't like mealworms. Pepper always seems to be taking food from Ellie, but I was up just watching them play for an hour a couple nights ago, and I see she gets about the same amount of food as Pepper, so maybe she's just skinny because she's on the wheel about twice as much as Pepper is. I'm gonna try to post often, so I can keep up with how they're doing and use it as an actual journal. Pictures are good for memories, but don't go into detail :)

[/center] Desmond checking out my phone! Dec 2, 2017 A Few Weeks of Glider Ownership :) Posted by: Scoria I've had my guys since I picked them up on November 11th. I think we're progressing well in the bonding process. Both were well-socialized and taken care of by their previous owner, so neither of them were ever afraid of me. The dominant one rarely nips me anymore. Neither have ever actually bitten me and drawn blood. The only time they ever crab is if I startle them when they're asleep, and even then it's a more annoyed crab than a frightened one. When I take them out for playtime they love to climb (and potty!) all over me. One loves to glide to and from me and other objects. He seems almost proud when I praise his jumping skills. I'm still trying to figure out exactly how they best love to be played with. I find that I'm still learning some of their body language, mainly trying to learn how to tell when they really like something. Their bulging eyes and excited shaking always makes me worry they're frightened, even though I know crabbing and lunging is their way of telling me to back off. I love stroking their soft fur and have even started to find their scent comforting. This may be the beginning of madness. Nov 29, 2017 Help, My sugar glider has had Diarrhea last 2 days and her bottom area does not look right Posted by: Dlici1like I mentioned in the title, it just is not right looking and I know the picture might be hard because she was fighting me, but its the best I could do. She is eating and Drinking fine, and it did not look like this Sunday 11/26. I was away the rest of the day Sunday and all day Monday and noticed it last night Tuesday 11/28 around 8pm. There is an image attached -Main Folder. Nov 28, 2017 My boyfriends had his glider for 4 years and she’s always been alone Posted by: carlymia26My boyfriend got his glider about 4 years ago with his ex. They kept her alone and never tried to socialize her or even bond with her. I’ve been with him for 2 years now and I try to give her as much attention as possible, but I’m afraid she might be too old to bond. But I’ve read many articles about how her being alone could make her depressed and harm herself..and I’ve also read that since she is so old that she might not take too kindly to a roommate. Please help! I want her to have the best life possible! Nov 27, 2017 PLEASE HELP! Posted by: Lindsey.glider
Please help, I have no idea what's going on with my female glider Luna. I noticed that she has been over grooming her neck and upon closer inspection it seems like she has some sort of rash. I'm worried sick and am taking her to the vet tomorrow morning as soon as I can. Please, if you have any idea about what might be going on I would very grateful. Luna my female lives with two other male gliders who are both neutered. Her appetite is normal and her overall mood hasn't changed. I don't exactly know how old she is because the woman I got them from was extremely unprofessional. Nov 19, 2017 Winking - Mystery Solved - Maybe Posted by: RazzleDazzleI've searched and searched on Google as well as through articles here and could not find a thread that could say with certainty what it means when your glider winks at you. I even ran into one where people were suggesting to bring the glider to the vet to make sure there is no infection or scratch on or under the eye... Well! I'm not saying don't go to the vet. Go to the vet! If you ever feel that there could be ANY possibility your little floof is sick or hurt. It's better to be safe than sorry. But! I've received a clean bill of health on both of my babies but both still love to wink at me occasionally. Especially when treat time comes around. So after searching, I came across an article about "Common Gerbil Behaviors" that included a section on winking. Here's the link: https://www.petcha.com/12-strange-but-common-gerbil-behaviors/
But the short and sweet (too late) is that if it's the same as Gerbils behaviors at all, it simply means that they are content/being submissive when they do. The article suggests that you should wink back at them kind of like a, "All is well.", signal to them. Here's to many more winks! Nov 19, 2017 New Owner Help Pleaseee Posted by: KcollinsSo I have had my glider for 5days and he seems to have a weird sleeping schedule and he was drinking really well the first day and now I never see him get a drink. He is a year and half, he is not aggressive and will jump to anyone. But he gets on my back a bites the same spot, at first is was soft but now he does it hard and if i wiggle he does it harder. He has been doing this for a few days. (the same spot every time) I am worried about his drinking and sleeping mostly.. any ideas? Nov 18, 2017 Tips or suggestions? Posted by: Gliderlove50 So, I’ve had my glider Chi Chi for about a year now, and she’s about 2 years old. She was free roam after she was out of the pouch and now has been living in a cage for about a year and a half. She is still very aggressive when it comes to handleing her at all, or even giving her treats and food. She was bonded to her sister but then they got separated when they were sold. My friend had her bonded to another female and after about six months or so of doing fine together she turned on the other female and killed her. Recently we got a male and they seem to be getting along pretty well, in separate cages. We switched their pouches, she has an open faced and he came with a zippered one, and put the pouch on and she did nothing but crab and shake. Does anyone have any suggestions tips or tricks on how my boyfriend or I could better bond with her? We’d like to be able to bond the two, but are concerned with grabbing her if something bad were to happen, or if they mate we’d like to be able to check the babies and handle her. Nov 13, 2017 Baby glider Posted by: TheStrangeOneWhen do baby gliders stop drinking from their mothers? Nov 12, 2017 BABY SUGAR GLIDER IN NEED OF HOME Posted by: ashleyrxI got the cutest little sugar glider named ziggy during the summer, sadly with school in session I am not able to give him the time and love he deserves. As much as I want to keep him I know it's not morally right of me, so I have decided to let him go. He is a male sugar glider that is around 8 months old, he is the cutest little thing ever and very easy to bond to. He will come with his cage, water bottle, food container, his pellets, calcium, fruit treats, his cereal, biscuits, his favorite bag to sleep in, and a little bonding pouch. I don't want to put him through the stress of having to ship him out so if located in Miami and interested in purchasing this adorable little fella I'm giving everything for $100 and price is negotiable. Thank you. Text 305-244-4426 for pictures and any information.
