I agree it seems a bit confusing. I use dried willow branches and I scrub them eveytime I clean the cage I also use the concrete conditioning perches that you can get for parrots to keep thier nails dull. These thing seem to work for me since I don't have apple or pear branches(not sprayed with pesticides) readily available. I simply scub the branches with HOT water and a bristly brush until clean I also use a non-toxic enzimatic cleaner to rid them of any oder and bactieria. I found this stuff at the pet store originally to get rid of pet oder on stuff form my cats. It works really well for my gliders too. Hope this helps. Glider love and nibbles, Diana
