: Hello all! Does anyone have any ideas on how to convert adult gliders (3-5 years old) onto Brisky's? I have been debating back and forth whether or not to change them from the fresh fruit diet to brisky's. My main reason behind this is that twice a year we travel for 1-2 weeks to visit my in-laws. During this time I have a glider sitter (always the same lady) come in and care for my gliders. Well, my glider sitter doesn't live as close to me as she used to and I know it would be inconvient for her to have to come everyday (w/ her 2 kids in tow) and cut up fruits, etc. I was thinking it would easier on her because she would know exactly what to feed and how much. She'd just have to put in the Brisky's and change the water daily which takes alot less time. She doesn't handle the gliders because she doesn't feel comfortable handling them. Anyway, I got the Brisky's about a month ago and have been keeping it in the freezer. I've been putting a small amount of Brisky's in with their current diet every night...at first they would nibble on it but lately they've gotten so where they don't even touch it at all. I really don't like the idea of making them go cold turkey to Brisky's. Is it possible to convert them since they've been on the same diet so long?????? I'm open to any and all suggestions :) The best way to get your gliders to switch their diet is to add the accu-feed and then each night slowly decrease the amount of the other diet that you are giving them until you are only offering them the accu-feed. However gliders do not deal with stress very well and if you are only changing their diet for convience sake you must consider that they are going to be going through some separation anxiety with you gone to begin with. Why add the stress of changing their diet back and forth? I do use the accu-feed. I have had it partially analized for content. I have gone over the analysis and the ingredients with my vet. I feel that it is the best diet that I could give to my gliders. I do have one pair that will not eat it so I slip it into their ledbeaters. What if they were to stop eating it while you were gone? I do not think that changing a diet just so that it is more convienient for a pet sitter is a good reason for putting them through the stress of changing the diet. If it is going to be a permanent chang in diet then I think that the best thing that you could do is to switch them over after you return from your vacation.
