Subject: Would Like Some Advice

I'm pretty new to this board, although I have responded to some posts. Only one person has responded to me so far (another newbie), so I thought I would introduce myself, and ask a question that has been occupying my life lately. As I have said before, but most of you probably haven't read, my real name is Megan, but I saw another Megan on the board, so I thought I'd make it easy and go by my alias. My five boys and I live in Washington state. I adopted all of them as adults from people who felt they couldn't take care of them anymore, the most recent of which from the pound. I would like to integrate them into a colony, eventually getting each of them a mate, with the exception of the last (Gizmo) who is neutered and will live alone with his future mate Bonnie, as he is a bit timid, and has always lived alone. (I have had him for only a few days, and he has bonded to me amazingly well so far, at 7mo. old!) The other two pairs of boys (Rosco & Tassel, and Nikko & Jasper) have been living "next door" to each other for about a month so far, and have had contact with eachother numerous times. They very obviously don't want eachother in their respective territories (which include my b/f and I), but have not caused any observable physical harm to eachother. And no, they are never in contact w/eachother unsupervised. The most effective method I've tried, including switching cages, switching sleeping pouches, and everything else the books, sites, and other resources tell you to do; was to apply bag balm to their noses and scent glands. This confused them sufficiently for several hours, to the point that three of them snuggled up together in one pouch, with only occasional fussing and grumping. However, the second time I tried this (last night) they figured out how to wipe it off pretty quick, and were right back at it. Any other suggestions? Sorry it's so long winded, I appreciate any one who takes the time to read my novel and help out! Thanks, Megan.
