I do hopwever live in an apt..and I can answer all of those questions. Does he allow small caged pets? Most any place will...its easier than asking abotu sugar gliders. Simply ask abotu small caged pets...they are no where big as a ferret and their "poop" is not nearly as big or messy. Ferrets have a really strong odor(my bf has 2 right now) They will go in the same place everytime..build up a pile..and the smell is deffinitly har to get rid of. Gliders do not do this..however they will go at any place at any time. They are not litter box trainable..yet ferrets are. Sugar gliders are not really at all like any other animal. As far as going to the bathroom outside the cage they are like small birds...except that its not wet like birds. Their poop is really small and drys real fast unless they are sick and have runny stools..then its a tad messy. Their urine does not smell bad at all...but becuase gliders do mark things they will soemtimes pee as much as they can...dribbling on this and that. Dependign ont he type of material you sue for your cage the cage can smell horrible. But if you use vinyl coated mesh..it smells great all the time and is easy to clean. Also you could tell him their poop is about the size of a hamsters or something. My gliders have never caused any damage at all. They will knock anything over that isnt heavy enough..but I don't leave stuff out that they can break. If you put some branches or polly perches in their cage they will never scratch the carpet or furniture at all. Also trim their nails on a regular basis. How much do they go outside their cages? Well mine go all the time. I always make them go before I first take them out of the cage...and then they probably go once or twice an hr after that. They don't go as much durring the day ebcause they are asleep...and while I have them out of the cage they are constantly going back in for food and water. Yet when they do go it is small and easy to clean up..just have paper towels in every room with you. Their urine and feces does no damage...they have rubbed their buts on my furniture before and left soem nasty smears..but if you wash it off quickly it doesnt stain..and they rarely do that. And once again the only way the urine is going to smell bad is if you have a bad diet...with a good diet their urine should never smell bad. My old landlord never once came to my apt..so they can't really testify...Ive only been in my new place for a month and a half..so my new one probably wouldnt either. At first my landlord said no pets..then I brought Peep to her hosue and she said that soemthing that small and cute couldn't do much more damage than a human was already going to do. Possibly take him some pictures so he can see just how small they are. Also tell him that they don't make a lot of noises. Some landlords are worried about that too. If you have any more questions I will try to answer them for you.
