Subject: setbacks.....but whats a SG to do

The bonding process seems to be on hold for Gia. She changed sleeping habits and became almost tame for a few days. Then reverted to her old wild, biting ways. She's let out of her cage each evening, or at least she's given the chance, that sometimes she doesn't take. Wendi has been wearing Gia inbetween her shirts and hand feeding her almost all the time. Yet we still have to spend huge amounts of time and energy getting her back into her cage. She enjoys being out enough that we don't want to take that away from her, but she has begun sleeping until 3:00 am again, and Wendi is not able to get her to wake up before then. Each time she has to go back into the cage she gives us a really good hide and seek, complete with biting, jumping, hiding, crabbing, and I'm sure, pure "bond breaking" terror on her part. As we have to trap her, run her down, or sneak up on her to get her in the cage. I will be back working in San Antonio again shortly. I plan on getting a male, but I have to wait until then as it would be unfair to the critters and Wendi to get him before I'm back and can spend some ample time bonding. On the up side, after sometimes crabbing, sometimes not, she will allow herself to be pet and scratched. However if she has a place to go she'll usually run. She eats readily from Wendi's hand, but once again if she can, she'll get away. I believe she's gotten used to Wendi being around, but she doesn't quite trust her. Thanks for all your help, Jade Trammell jaded@txdirect.net
