I am thinking about making one of these now that we have switched to fleece on the cage floor instead of newspaper under the cage. It sure would save a lot of the mess on the fleece!

OMG, i've never seen a nose like that. Does it wiggle when he sniffs? I have a solution for the mess. Get a dog...when I let Ty out of his cage in the morning he runs straight for the suggies cage. He licks up anything he finds on the floor around the table their cage is on. I never have to sweep. Around the cage on the table is another story. I think i'll be buying a kitchen and shelf this weekend. Thanks for the idea!!

I'm just curious Catman:

Obviously the proper orientation of a glider kitchen is in the eye of beholder, but why did you opt to have the lid on the top when the rest of us have used the lid as a base? I do it that way because the lid has more physical room for them to move around in there. And, I can see them better when the lid is on the bottom. There's really no right or wrong way of course. Just curious why you went with the lid on top?

dizzysmom,it just fit better with the top side up(i tried both ways), the bottom is flatter and is more stable that way.The lid also has some fin like things all the way around the inside and I thought it would be hard to clean and maybe rough in their feet to walk on.

well I think it's time for me to try my hand a making some glider kitchen's. These fur-butts decided to throw egg all over the place tonight. I'll be cleaning up smashed egg out of carpet forever. I'll be out hunting for plastic containers for kitchen's tomorrow I guess.

Okay so last night after finding scrambled egg all over my carpet I decided it's time for a glider kitchen. So here it is. One of the one's we made today. Can't wait to see it in the morning. I hope they eat tonight.

I've found that I no longer have to scrub my walls, there's much less mess on the floor, and I don't have to clean the inside of my cage nearly as much. Less work makes me a very happy camper!

I use a a round cake holder tupperware. I just cut a 4" hole in the side so they could crawl in and out, and it works great! Perfect size too for fitting through the cage door so I can clean it every night.

Well they used their glider kitchen's last night. Sure seemed like less of a mess than I normally clean up but they were messy. I'm so glad I did this and the plastic boxes were only $1.00 at the Dollar General. I can't wait to fix their dinner tonight. Thank's everyone for the glider kitchen tip.
