Roadtrip to Los alamos, NM
This is our trip to New Mexico to tour the particle accelerator at Los Alamos. We got to see and understand some very interesting things while spending all day at the lab, including: Cockroft-Walton multiplier, Faraday cage, proton injectors, LINAC, lots of beam pipe and tunnels, proton storage ring, proton radiography, neutron scattering, isotope production, various experiments, beam paths and targets, endless array of unbelievable humongeous power-hungry magnets: benders, kickers, quads, focus/defocus, cryogenics, vacuum, klystrons, cooling, ion pumps, detectors, choppers, bunchers, unimaginable array of power and control wiring for all the above. A week later and I am still in awe of the massiveness of the mission and tools over there. CLIPS: video of the Lesharo enroute, free BLM camp site, boondock propane coffee, picked up some Trinitite, view of the Rio Grande from my cousin's back yard, driveway overnight with electric coffee, a few things we saw on our lab tour, clips from Bandelier, expensive RV parked next to me, Valle Grande, road to hot springs, peaceful clips of the Jemez River, retuning home.
