Subject: HELP! Am I doing the right thing??

As you all are quite aware now- I just adopted a 1 year old untame glider (Saturday) who had a former owner. So the glider thinks that true bonding *it seems so far* is the ability to run around a person and get petted without being killed. I am in the midst of making a pouch to pouch train this girl, and for the last 2 days have been visiting her sparatically throughout the day and fed her treats so that she gets to know my scent. While I was feeding her honey managed to drip on her fur...so I had to clean her off as much as possible with a washcloth... It seems the closeness that I thought I had been building..(her being able to take food from me, and my being able to pet her) has been interrupted. For the rest of today she is gingerly taking food from me, hiding from any sudden move at all, and biting...(though not as hard as in the beginning) I left her alone most of today because when she comes out and sees me she runs back into her box and it is heart breaking..she will take the food from me when I put my hands in the box, but stays as low to the floor as possible being defensive..when she won't eat I talk to her for a little bit...try and feed her a bit more..but she will only come out when she thinks I am gone. Please any advise...I am drowning...
