: Hey, I went to Stop & Shop today and got the Magazine Teen people and was flipping through it and I got to the "COOL LIST" aka The List of The Coolest Things of 1998. Supposdely everthing on this list is gonna raise in popularity soon or it already has! Well, the sugar glider was number 19 out of 21 if they are in order? Well, there is a pic of one and it said undernathit:
: Quote - Pocket Pet
: This little guy is an Australian Sugar Glider, a marsupial like a kangaroo, only waaay smaller (about 6 inches long). They've been Down Under forever, but they're fairly new to the U.S. the Friendly creature can survive on (fruit, nuts, & cat food) for 10 years or more, and you can train them to use your pocket as a homebase. Be Warned: Sugar gliders are illegal in some states and need tons of care. Ask your local pet store if it's USDA certified to carry them (prices start at about $200). You can also e-mail Herpeton Exotic Pets (herpeton@herpeton.com) or see the site www.herpeton.com. Unquote

: Thats what it said. Good info for a first timer? I think so! And they made it to PEOPLE MAG!!! Thats great for our little buddies. Lots of people have been emailing me about them cause they saw them in Teen People. Boy does word spread fast about gliders all over the world!!! I thought this was great for their popularity.

: Oh yeah, if you thought it was bad, keep it to your self, I dont want any flames. :o)

Jess you know that i respect you, I do not however respect the article that you've brought to my attention nor do I have any respect for animal dealers who throw gliders for 30 feet to show them of. On the web page Herpetons acctually say that you acn toss them around like paper airplanes! I know that Griz and Lily would never trust me if I flug them about like beany babies. If anyone, like myself, thinks that the article is not in the best interests of gliders or perspective owners, then join me in writing Teen People and ask them to print more facts about gliders and their care. I plan on asking that people who want gliders should surf the net and /or read as much as they can get their hands on for them to be sure that this is the pet for them. Bourbon... right as always. :>} glider love and nibbles, Diana
