Subject: Important New Baby Questions
Posted by Heather on June 20, 1999 at 12:10:52:

Hi everyone... I just got my baby sugar glider yesterday, and I have a couple of really important questions to ask. First of all, what do I feed a baby for protein? The breeder said she can eat solid food, but then he also said to feed her lots of fresh soft fruits until she can eat the dry food really well. So if I still need to be feeding her soft foods, can she eat crickets or mealworms? If she can't, what should I give her for protein? The breeder also told me that as long as I feed her the right foods (I know what they're supposed to eat) then I don't need to give her any vitamin supplements. Is this true? And last, she sleeps A LOT. I'm a little worried about her, but I probably shouldn't be. Human babies do a lot more sleeping than adults, so why should a glider be different? She slept ALLL day (of course) and didn't wake up until around 10 or 10:30. Then she went back to sleep around 2:30 a.m. Is this normal? I'm afraid she may be sick. Also, when I went to get her out of her cage this morning, she was sleeping on the bottom of the cage, instead of in her nest. I'm not even sure if she ate anything yesterday. I'm not sure if this is normal or not, so if someone could please answer some of my questions, it would really be helpful. Thanks a lot, everyone! **crossing fingers for quick responses**
